  • Introducing ENCODE-IT: Coding for Women’s Empowerment and Digital Inclusion

We are proud to announce the launch of ENCODE-IT – Empowering Women through Knowledge and Skills on Coding for Employment Opportunities in the IT Sector. This project has been approved under the Erasmus+ KA210-ADU, and we are now ready to begin a journey that aims to transform lives through digital empowerment. 📗

In a world where digital transformation shapes every aspect of our lives, millions of women across Europe still lack access to the skills they need to participate in the digital economy. ENCODE-IT PROJECT sets out to tackle this challenge by creating practical, inclusive learning opportunities for low-skilled women who face multiple barriers to education and employment. 👩‍🏫

The purpose is rooted in social justice, inclusion & innovation. Our vision is to create flexible, accessible and high-impact educational pathways for women who are too often left behind in the digital age. By focusing on coding and digital literacy, we aim to open doors to new job opportunities and economic independence, especially for women who have been historically marginalized or excluded from the tech world.

ENCODE-IT PROJECT has clear and focused objectives that respond directly to the needs of its target groups & to the wider goals of the European Union in digital upskilling & gender equality. We will train 60 low-skilled women across PT, TR, BE by providing them with beginner-friendly coding knowledge. These women will participate in a structured learning journey that includes interactive digital modules, a Virtual Bootcamp & an International Hackathon. 👩‍💻

ENCODE-IT is made possible through the collaboration of 3 dynamic organizations from across Europe: @APPIS (Portugal), our coordinating organization, brings deep expertise in adult education and social inclusion, particularly among disadvantaged communities. IGEA (Türkiye) specializes in digital training & content development, particularly for marginalized adults and women. SDSN – Sustainable Development Studies Network (Belgium) focuses on sustainable development, social innovation & international networking & will lead the organization of the International Hackathon. 📌

Our project outputs are carefully designed to create both immediate and long-term impact. We will develop:
📗 Six interactive coding modules (delivered in EN, PT, TR, and FR), introducing learners to essential digital and coding skills, with a focus on Python.
🔎 A 4-month Virtual Bootcamp offering hands-on, guided training for all 60 participants.
🧩 An International Hackathon, where participants will work with professionals to co-create solutions to real-world challenges in digital inclusion and sustainability.

Stay tuned and be part of the journey—follow us to benefit from the progress, insights, and impactful outcomes of this inspiring project! 📍
